Balance

This performance artwork was based on the word "balance" because my partner, Cherry and I decided that was the word that most aptly described both of our previous artworks for the semester.

The live aspect of performance art was daunting, so was the time constraint of one minute.
Both of these things were discussed when devising our performance, Cherry and I decided to count the seconds of the minute together during the performance.
Originally we gave eachother 5 seconds per person per object but that proved to be a redundant method of timekeeping.

We balanced many found objects in a stack until eventually it fell. This was an act of collaboration, trust and patience.

I was heavily aware of the viewers gaze throughout the art making process, in a way that I felt constricted an rushed in my performance. However, the live aspect of this artwork did achieve a genuinely spontaneous and ephemeral artwork, which are themes I already explore in my artwork.
Therefore live art performance could be a method I use to creating genuinely improvised and organic art.
