Jemima Carey

The
Story
Jemima Carey is a Meanjin based artist who predominantly makes watercolour paintings about balancing modern social views with human nature and needs.
She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Art) from QUT, and is currently studying a Masters of Teaching in Perth.
While painting is her main focus, Jemima has also written and produced her own music as well as playing guitar for the band LEEVAI AND THE JEANS, performing live along the east coast throughout 2024 and 2025.

She has written and collaborated on the ScratchThat Magazine from QUT; managing the newsletter team, she organised the production of fortnightly newsletters that celebrated liturature at QUT, promoted local events, and supported the main magazine promotions.
